How to test a racing wheel
Connect your racing wheel and pedal base via USB, open this page in Chrome or Edge, turn the wheel from lock to lock, and press each pedal through its full range of travel.

Checking wheel rotation range
Turn your wheel completely to full left lock and full right lock to confirm that the steering angle tracks linearly across 270°, 900°, or 1080° without deadbands.

Testing pedals individually

Why pedal sensors fail before the wheel
Pedal assemblies sit on dusty floors where carpet fibers, hair, and shoe grit fall directly into exposed potentiometer housings, accelerating resistive track wear.
Unlike the optical encoders or magnetic Hall sensors inside wheel bases, budget sim pedals rely on cheap rotational potentiometers. Cleaning potentiometer casings with electronics contact cleaner regularly resolves flickering pedal axes.
Testing force feedback

Sim racing wheels support force feedback effects to communicate tire slip, curb impacts, and road texture. Testing rumble verifies that your base's internal motor drivers and power supply are delivering adequate current.
