How to Test Your PS5 DualSense Controller Online

The PlayStation 5 DualSense controller is one of the most advanced gaming peripherals ever made, equipped with precision resistive potentiometers, dual voice-coil haptic actuators, adaptive triggers, and a multi-touch capacitive pad. However, intensive gaming sessions, dust accumulation, and component wear can cause buttons to fail, analog sticks to drift, or triggers to misfire.

Our online PS5 controller tester gives you immediate, driver-free insight into your hardware. The moment you press a button or rotate the thumbsticks, our tester samples the HTML5 Gamepad API at your monitor's native refresh rate (up to 240Hz) and visualizes every coordinate and pressure value live.

Diagnosing Stick Drift on PS5 DualSense

Stick drift occurs when the internal carbon resistive tracks inside the analog stick module suffer from friction wear or foreign debris, sending phantom coordinates to the console even when the stick is untouched.

To test for stick drift: leave your controller resting flat on your desk. Look at the L3 and R3 coordinates in the telemetry panel above. A factory-calibrated DualSense will sit between -0.03 and +0.03. If your coordinates wander beyond Âą0.08 or fail to snap back to the center origin, your stick has developed noticeable drift that will interfere with in-game aiming and camera control.

Frequently Asked Questions

Web browsers only activate gamepad telemetry after user interaction to protect privacy. Connect your controller and press any button (such as Cross, Square, or L1) to wake the browser Gamepad API.
Our tester measures full 0% to 100% analog range for L2 and R2 triggers. Note that dynamic physical motor resistance (Adaptive Trigger locking) is managed by Sony's proprietary Windows audio/HID driver and is active in supported PC games over a USB connection.
Minor drift can often be resolved by blowing compressed air into the thumbstick ball socket, performing a hard pinhole reset on the back of the controller for 5 seconds, or slightly expanding your in-game inner deadzone settings. For severe wear, replacing the potentiometer module or upgrading to Hall Effect electromagnetic sticks is recommended.
