How this differs from a deadzone setting

Deadzone settings simply tell your game to ignore slight stick movements around the resting position, which sacrifices fine aiming precision. In contrast, firmware calibration recalibrates the controller's internal zero-point memory so that the physical stick reports true center across every console and PC.

When games apply in-game deadzones, they mask potentiometer drift by discarding raw axis input below a set radius (usually 5% to 15%). While this prevents unintended character or camera wandering, it severely degrades micro-adjustments in competitive shooters and racing games. Firmware-level NVS flash calibration solves the root problem by recording the physical potentiometer resting offset directly into the gamepad's non-volatile memory. Because the correction is stored inside the controller hardware itself, the fix operates natively on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC, Mac, and iOS without requiring background software or deadzone configuration.

Which controllers are supported

Firmware-level calibration requires direct access to vendor-specific WebHID feature reports over a wired USB connection. This procedure supports official Sony DualSense (CFI-ZCT1W V1 and CFI-ZCT1W V2) and official Sony DualShock 4 controllers.

2. Click 'Connect Controller via WebHID' and grant browser device permissions.

4. Toggle the 'Software Temporary Fix Preview' to verify that your coordinates snap to (0.00, 0.00).

Safety: what the guards do and why

The reversible preview step

When calibration will not fix your drift

Firmware calibration corrects electrical zero-point shifting caused by spring fatigue and neutral offset. It does not and cannot fix physical mechanical damage, broken potentiometer wipers, or worn carbon resistive tracks.

We do not promise that this calibration tool fixes all stick drift. Analog stick drift stems from two fundamentally distinct causes: neutral center-point shift (where the mechanical return spring settles slightly off-center) and physical potentiometer track wear (where physical carbon friction scrapes away resistive material, causing erratic spikes or jitter). Calibration permanently cures center-point shift. However, if your potentiometer tracks are physically gouged or worn out, no software command can restore the missing carbon — the analog stick module must be physically replaced.

Can this permanently fix stick drift?
For drift caused by a shifted centre point, yes — it rewrites the controller's stored calibration so the correction persists on console and PC. Drift caused by worn or damaged potentiometers needs the stick module replaced.
Is it safe to write to my controller?
The tool blocks the write unless the pad is official, connected by USB and above the battery threshold, keeps an in-memory backup, and requires a typed confirmation. Do not unplug during the write.
Does this work over Bluetooth?
No. Permanent calibration is USB-only by design, because a dropped wireless connection mid-write can leave the controller in a bad state.
Will this void my warranty?
