Repair Procedure

Step 1: Open the DualSense
Remove the two screws behind the L2/R2 triggers and the two screws under the thumbstick covers. Pry the shell apart starting from the top edge near the touch pad.
Step 2: Access the Trigger Assembly
Disconnect the trigger motor ribbon cables from the main PCB. The trigger assemblies are held in with small screws.
Step 3: Inspect the Mechanism
Check the worm gear for stripped teeth. Check the return spring for breakage. Check the motor by applying 3.3V directly. If the motor spins but the trigger does not engage, the worm gear is stripped.
Step 4: Replace Damaged Parts
Replacement trigger assemblies (motor + gear) cost $8-15 per side. Snap the old assembly out and the new one in. Reconnect cables.
Step 5: Test
Reassemble and test in a game that uses adaptive triggers (Astro's Playroom). Both triggers should provide variable resistance as designed.
